When you start the game you are first given the chance to earn up to three life-lines by putting the answers to a starter question in the correct order. The three life-lines available are: Ask the Audience, Ask a Friend, and 50:50.

The Ask the Audience option works in exactly the same way as in the TV series, except, that in this case it is the machine that is giving you a hint of what might be the correct answer. 50:50 eliminates two wrong answers from the four choices, the Ask a Friend option works in a similar way to Phone a Friend, players benefiting from an allotted time period to ask a friend in the pub for help - a very popular option, particularly when a group of people are playing the game together as is so often the case with pub quiz machines.

Once in the game you play for points, where various points levels equate to certain cash prize values - up to a maximum of £20 and as with the TV series, guaranteed cash prizes are awarded when certain points levels are reached.

In terms of the game itself, the machine can be configured for a choice of either one game for 50p, or three games for £1.
